COLLEGE STATION, TX: OPAS officials announced the events coming to the 2024-25 “Legends & Icons” season on April 23 before a standing-room-only audience of season ticket holders and supporters in the Bethancourt Ballroom at TAMU’s Memorial Student Center. Beginning in September, OPAS will present a season filled with a slate of entertaining Broadway musicals, concerts and theatrical experiences no fan of live entertainment should miss. The lineup of performances to be presented from September 2024 to April 2025 includes five events on the Ann Cobb Wiatt Main Stage series, three events on the Intimate Gatherings series, two on the Singular Sensations series, plus one big Family Time special event

Season and priority single tickets may be ordered beginning June 3 at the MSC Box Office (979-845-1234) and online at OPAStickets.org. Most season ticket packages offer savings opportunities ranging from 10-15% off regular ticket prices in select seating zones. Season ticket package buyers are assigned seats before single ticket buyers. All events will be performed in the Rudder Theatre Complex at Texas A&M University in College Station.

OPAS Executive Director Anne Black states, “For this season, the first program we were able to confirm was Michael Feinstein’s concert celebration of Tony Bennett. Our 2016 concert by Tony Bennett remains one of the most talked about programs in our recent OPAS history. As a leading interpreter of the American Songbook and a great friend to Tony Bennett, Michael Feinstein will celebrate the singer’s iconic music and career joined by the wonderful Carnegie Hall Ensemble. These season-opening concerts will be very, very special.”

A team of community and TAMU student volunteers worked with Anne Black to select the performances on the 2024-25 season. This year’s committee was chaired by Troy Elms and included Sharon Schwartz, Kerry Noack, Jamie Lander, Sandie Murphy, and students Brittany Rains, Canaan Hatfield, Paige Wenger and Kayson Hergert.

Since the 50th anniversary season two years ago, OPAS continues to build new audiences in the Brazos Valley and draws from the Central Texas region. During that time, there have been several capacity-filled performances including last season’s “An Evening with Yo-Yo Ma,” which sold out extremely early.

When asked what programs she’s most excited about seeing in Rudder this year, Anne states, “The Broadway shows are always the most talked about. I can’t wait for patrons to see the remarkable obstacles Tina Turner overcame. Her life and career are unmatched and awe-inspiring. And, any time we can welcome a recent Tony Award-winning best musical, we take advantage of that. The spectacular and stunning Hadestown is going to be something that our audiences we will be talking about for a long time.”

Anne teases that another program will be added to the “Legends & Icons” season in the fall. Season ticket holders will have first access to purchase tickets to that one-night-only event.
